Facing a ten-hour long-haul flight and unsure what to pack? Whether you’re a seasoned globetrotter or gearing up for your very first adventure, a thoughtfully packed carry-on can significantly enhance your travel experience. This guide is here to help you prepare, featuring items I’ve personally found invaluable during my journeys. Keep in mind, this isn’t an exhaustive packing list; it’s a carefully curated selection of essentials that I believe will make your transit more enjoyable.
Bellroy Travel Folio -RFID safe
In search of a stylish yet compact passport holder to replace my decade-old, oversized 30cm model, I turned to Bellroy. My partner and I had already invested in their high-quality slings and backpacks, impressed by the brand’s durability and thoughtful design.
The Bellroy Travel Folio caught my eye with its impressive features: six card slots, concealed flat bill storage for various currencies, dedicated sim and ejector pin compartments, dual passport pockets, an included micro pen and RFID protection. All these essentials are securely enclosed with a zipper and the folio’s compact size allows it to slip easily into hoodie or track pant pockets.

This nifty device, no larger than a USB stick, seamlessly pairs your Bluetooth headphones or earbuds with any standard headphone jack. Simply plug it in, power it up, and you’re set for wireless audio bliss. With an impressive 25-hour battery life, the AirFly Pro ensures uninterrupted entertainment from takeoff to touchdown, no matter how long your journey.

Bose Quiet Comfort 45 Headphones
Recently, I’ve been using the Bose QuietComfort SC headphones for my international travels, as well as for everyday music listening and gaming sessions. What truly sets Bose apart is their impressive 22-hour battery life and their renowned noise-cancelling technology. With just a flick of a switch, these headphones can dramatically reduce the drone of airplane engines, transforming your in-flight experience.
Whether I’m immersing myself in movies or simply trying to catch some sleep, the noise-cancelling function proves invaluable. It effectively blocks out ambient noise, from fellow passengers’ chatter to sudden announcements, creating a personal oasis of calm amidst the chaos of air travel. The versatility of these headphones extends beyond air travel, enhancing my audio experience in various scenarios. Whether I’m losing myself in music or diving into the immersive world of arcade games, the Bose QuietComfort SC consistently delivers exceptional sound quality and comfort.

Universal adaptor
Invest in a reliable universal charger that offers plug options, USB-A, and USB-C ports to avoid the hassle of packing multiple adapters. I’ve traveled to Japan, the USA, and Canada using just one adapter, and it has worked flawlessly with all types of plugs and devices—especially since some older accommodations may lack USB outlets. For the past few years, I’ve relied on Zendure without any issues.
Bellroy Lite Daypack
I prefer to travel practically and dislike having one hand occupied when I need to hold my passport, tickets or phone. The Lite Daypack has proven to be both sturdy and comfortable, featuring adjustable shoulder straps and an attachable sternum strap that helps distribute weight evenly. Crafted from Dura Lite Nylon fabric, this daypack is lightweight and semi-waterproof, making it an ideal choice for any journey.
Ear Plugs
Self explanatory, a real-life saver in a pinch if you have a snoring companion or neighbour. I personally just get a multi pack of foam ear plugs since I tend to lose mine over time.

Contoured eye mask
As someone who relies on rigid overnight contact lenses for vision correction, traditional eye masks are a no-go for me. The pressure they put on my eyes is not just uncomfortable—it’s downright disruptive. That’s why discovering contoured eye masks was a game-changer for my travel routine.
These ingeniously designed masks create a protective dome over your eyes, ensuring zero contact with your eyelids or lenses. They’re effective round the clock, plunging you into complete darkness whenever you need it. With an adjustable head strap, they offer a snug yet comfortable fit that won’t budge, even during those restless in-flight naps.
For fellow travelers with similar vision needs—or anyone who values both comfort and total darkness—these contoured masks are a must-have. They’ve transformed my ability to rest during travel, making long flights and jet lag much more manageable.

Compression stockings
Drawing from nearly a decade of experience in the medical field, I can’t stress enough the importance of compression socks. They’re not just for those on their feet all day—they’re crucial for anyone facing long periods of sitting, like during air travel, where the risk of deep vein thrombosis significantly increases.
Personally, I’ve found these socks to be a game-changer. When I’m confined to a seat for hours on end, my knees and lower legs tend to ache and swell. Slipping on a pair of compression garments works wonders, noticeably reducing pain and swelling in my lower limbs. Whether you’re crossing time zones or simply enduring a long flight, your legs will thank you for this simple yet effective precaution.
